1. What does hypnosis feel like?
As most things in life, hypnosis is unique to each person. Some people report feeing a floating sensation, while others do not. Many say they feel sleepy, but some do not. Most people feel relaxed and at ease. The most important thing to keep in mind is that how you feel is not an indication of how successful your session is. No matter what it feels like, it is working.
2. Can I get “stuck” in hypnosis?
No! That is a common misconception. You are in control during the whole session. You can talk, listen, and even move. Some clients even need to take a restroom break and are able to relax again and achieve the goal of the session.
3. How does hypnosis work?
It is not magic, it is science! Hypnosis mimics REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. By creating the same brain wave conditions hypnosis occurs, but you are not asleep. This process allows you to access your subconscious. Part of the “rapid” in RTT indicates that the method of hypnosis used induces a hypnotic trance quickly.
4. What if I do not “go deep” enough?
The depth of trance is not indicative of the results achieved by RTT. Do not worry about “doing it right”. If you are open to the process, getting too preoccupied with how “deep” you are is not helpful or even relevant.
5. What if I already know the reasons behind my issue?
You might. However, through RTT you gain more insight into the reason or reasons behind the issue. More understanding and information come forth during hypnosis. Many people identify memories or moments they never thought would be connected to their current challenges.
6. What if I go back to scenes that are painful or scary?
Some traumatic events are so painful we do not want to relive them. RTT cannot make you relive any event from you past, even happy ones. Sometimes, reminding you that this is just a memory we are gaining information from helps or asking you to watch it like a movie or TV show can settle possible strong emotions. However, YOU ARE IN CONTROL, and if you want to stop the scene or session for any reason, you can.
7. When will I start to see changes?
Rapid Transformational Therapy creates change in three ways, and we cannot predict how it will come about for each person.
Immediate: Even during the session changes in your thoughts, behavior, and body can occur.
Incremental: You notice the changes bit by bit.
Retroactive: You do not notice changes at first. One day it will all become clear as you acknowledge all the changes in your life. Sometimes, you will not realize it until someone else points it out to you.
8. What is the difference between face-to-face and online sessions?
Online sessions are as effective as in person sessions. I use Zoom for my online sessions. Zoom is free, and I can provide you with more information once you have booked your session.
9. What if our online session gets disconnected?
Eventually, you will realize that you are no longer hearing my voice and come out of the trance. Once the issue is resolved, we can reconnect on Zoom. You could also fall asleep depending on how relaxed you are. If that happens, you will wake up eventually and realize the problem. Although this can be a possibility on both sides of the connection, it does not happen often. Depending on timing and duration, another session may need to be scheduled to make up the missed time.
10. Are all sessions confidential?
Yes, although there are few exceptions which include: 1. credible intent to hurt yourself or someone else, 2. a report of current abuse against a child, elderly adult, or other protected populations, and 3. When records are court ordered, which rarely happens.
As a licensed counselor, I am afforded the right of privileged conversation. This is to protect your privacy. I take your confidentiality very seriously.
